Question by peacefulterran: correct english : “looking forward for” or “looking forward to”?
Hello world,
English is not my 1st language, and for a long time now, I’ve wondered what is the correct way to finish a letter (business-correspondance-type).
Should I say:
Looking forward for hearing back from you soon,
or
Looking forward to hear back from you soon,
?
Can both ways be used?
If so, when do I look forward for something, and when do I look forward to something?
Thanks!

looking forward to is correct, the other way isn’t proper English
In this case, most definitely: “Looking forward to hear back from you soon.” I always use “look forward to.”
“I am looking forward to Christmas.”
“I am not looking forward to doing work.”
“I am looking forward to getting a gift.”
I am not sure when using “for” would be necessary at all, or would even sound appropriate.
you look forward to something, ive never really looked forward FOR something, so to answer your question it’s “I’m looking forward to hear back from you soon”
looking forward to hearing from you soon would be the best way
so neither way can be used just what i said above is correct.
you never look forward for something.it doesn’t make gramatical sense. but you always look forward to something, that’s the correct way
The correct way and proper English is looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Looking forward to
Looking forward to…
